We bring young people and local communities together to make a real difference — improving the homes of vulnerable residents whilst helping the next generation build skills, confidence and a brighter future.
We bring young people and local communities together to make a real difference. From painting and decorating to garden makeovers and minor repairs, our Community Heroes take on projects that improve homes and improve lives.
Every project completed creates a double impact: a vulnerable resident gets the support they need, and a young person gains the skills and confidence to create a brighter future.

Request Support
Being part of something that actually helps people — that's what makes it worth it.
Community Heroes is a UK youth volunteering programme that improves homes for vulnerable residents — including elderly people, disabled individuals, veterans and families in need — whilst giving young people practical trade skills, confidence and CV-ready experience. Every project creates a double impact: a resident receives support and a young person builds their future.
No previous experience is required to become a Community Hero. We teach you everything — from painting and carpentry to health and safety. All you need is a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Volunteers work alongside experienced construction professionals on every project.
We prioritise elderly residents (65+), disabled people, veterans, single-parent households, low-income families and individuals with long-term health conditions. You can apply for yourself or nominate a vulnerable person in your community. Submitting an application does not guarantee support — all requests are assessed individually based on need and available resources.
Projects include painting and decorating, fence repairs, garden clearances and maintenance, shed repairs, minor carpentry, minor plumbing, patch plastering, accessibility improvements and community clean-up projects. All work is supervised by qualified construction professionals.
There are two ways to get involved. Young people can apply to join as volunteers via our Become a Hero page. Vulnerable residents or those who wish to nominate someone can submit a support request via our Get Involved page. We also welcome donations and partnership enquiries via our contact page.
Take the first step towards building skills, gaining experience and making a real difference in your local community.
